Buffalo Wild Wings Original Hot Chicken Wings

A couple of weeks ago I made Buffalo Wild Wings Honey BBQ Chicken Wings for me and the kids when my husband was out of town, and they were so fun to make, and SO delicious, my husband asked if next time I would make his favorite Buffalo Wild Wings Original Hot kind. I always sneak one or two of his wings when we go there, {it’s about all the heat I can handle}, and these wings tasted the same! I loved them (well, a couple of them), he loved them… but what surprised me is how much my 7-year old daughter loved them! Now I have learned how fast, inexpensive, easy and delicious home made wings are, i’m feeling kinda silly for eating out there so much :-/ Now if I can just learn how to make Wing Stop’s fries….

Perfect Snickerdoodles

Last weekend we stayed with my husband’s parents, and his Mum made a huge batch of her perfect snickerdoodle cookies, which everyone just adores! They’re soft and warm, and covered in cinnamon and sugar, which makes them the perfect Autumn treat! This a family recipe that has been passed down, and just can’t seem to be beat! So, I am excited to share another beautifully simple family fave, that I hope will become one of yours too! Continue reading

White Chicken Chili

This is one of my favorite go-to family meals of all time, and I have lost count of how many times I have made it, although I can clearly remember the first time. We were sailing around the San Juan Islands with my husbands parents, the weather was getting cool, and we had a bowl of this Chili under blankets up on deck, in the middle of the serene Puget Sound. Everyone loved it, and it warmed us right up– it was the perfect thing to serve then, and it’s the perfect dish to serve now that the weather is getting cool again. Continue reading

Autumn Chicken Salad with Raspberry Poppyseed Dressing

I am not a salad person, but my daughter, Gemma, is– so I thought I would make her a big, beautiful autumn salad with all her favorite things in it today. Then I cut into the pomegranate and it was rotten, and the pears went bad before I had the chance to use them, and I completely forgot to buy feta cheese. So the salad I had in my mind didn’t go to plan at all, but I am so glad, because this one ended up being so much better! Continue reading

Buffalo Wild Wings Honey BBQ Chicken Wings

Whenever my family and I eat out in town, we talk through all of our options for about 20 minutes, each one being shot down by someone, until we all eventually and mutually decide on Chicken Wings! And then we spend another 10 minutes trying to decide between Buffalo Wild Wings and Wing-Stop! Wing stop usually wins because it has a quieter atmosphere, and better fries… but the Honey BBQ Chicken Wings at Buffalo Wild Wings is the best! My little guy and I used to compete to see who could eat the most, but he beat me so much I quit, and then he started out-eating my husband too. My husband and I usually just stare in awe as these little people with sticky fingers, big blue eyes, and BBQ covered faces devour a huge plate of wings in an insanely short amount of time, it’s pretty cute, and inhuman!

Edible Cookie Dough

This is the BEST cookie dough ever, and it’s “edible” meaning it’s completely safe to eat, because it doesn’t contain any raw eggs and risk of salmonella! My son begged me to make cookie dough balls as a treat after school the other day, as I was simultaneously chasing my one year old who’s in everything, making a dinner to go, packing diaper bags and making sure my big kids were getting their homework done! It’s a good job this recipe is SO incredibly easy. My son actually did most of the “work” and had a blast doing it! Continue reading

Smokey Pork Sliders with Apple & Microgreens Salad

Yesterday was officially the first day of fall, and I felt it! I was so cold that I had to wear socks and a sweater for the first time in months– and although I don’t love cold weather, and layering up myself and three kids, I do think autumn is the most beautiful, cosy and delicious season. I keep dreaming about warm drinks, pot pies, soups and stews with home made bread, pumpkin donuts, halloween themed cupcakes, apples and cinnamon flavored everything. There’s just something so cosy about fall– snuggling up under fluffy blankets with the fam. while watching a fun show at the end of a long day, while the rain pours down outside. So, for me, this season is all about those cosy, comfort classics, {and probably the need to start working out!} Continue reading

Ultimate Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Yesterday was my husband’s birthday, and I wanted to go all out to show him how much I love him! Ever since he started his new job last month he has been asking for help to decorate his new office, so I created a big modern art piece and ordered him some furniture, printed off some fave. family pics, got paint, and ordered frames and some modern manly accessories {why aren’t the words manly and accessories sitting right?} Then… I did something in true Sarah style, and accidentally sent it all to our old house 🙁 I wanted to take him out to lunch, but work was too crazy, so I thought “dinner!” But I had to take the kids to their after school activities! AND, he was really sick! So, long story short, instead of these grandiose plans to make his birthday awesome, I decided to just make all of his fave. foods, including these oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, which I am super excited to share! Continue reading

Cheese Fondu

I can’t even tell you how excited my family gets when I make this recipe! They crowd around me in the kitchen, stealing food as I prepare it, hovering over my shoulder dipping bread before I get the chance to serve it. It’s thick, smooth, creamy and cheesy, seasoned perfectly, and best of all, it won’t separate– no matter how long you leave it in your pan/fondu maker (not that it will be in there long).

But I don’t just love this recipe for how delicious, and fool-proof it is, I love it because it’s fun for the kids, brings my family together, and gets them to eat a ton of fruits and vegetables! I always make so much variety that everyone is happy, adults, kids and even babies!

Shrimp Tacos

What says summer more than shrimp tacos? I love this recipe. It’s quick and easy, bright and healthy and so delicious. The other day I made a big batch of our favorite coleslaw to go with some BBQ chicken, and knew it’d be awesome on top of shrimp tacos as well. It was so nice in the midst of a crazy Saturday to pull out the pre-made coleslaw, blend up some dressing and sauté some shrimp in the time it would usually take to make PB&J. I love those dishes that taste and look so complex, but are so sweet and simple!
