Whenever my family and I eat out in town, we talk through all of our options for about 20 minutes, each one being shot down by someone, until we all eventually and mutually decide on Chicken Wings! And then we spend another 10 minutes trying to decide between Buffalo Wild Wings and Wing-Stop! Wing stop usually wins because it has a quieter atmosphere, and better fries… but the Honey BBQ Chicken Wings at Buffalo Wild Wings is the best! My little guy and I used to compete to see who could eat the most, but he beat me so much I quit, and then he started out-eating my husband too. My husband and I usually just stare in awe as these little people with sticky fingers, big blue eyes, and BBQ covered faces devour a huge plate of wings in an insanely short amount of time, it’s pretty cute, and inhuman!

A while ago my husband rocked the Blazin’ challenge, but there needs to be some kind of challenge for the kids too, because ours would win. Except recently we moved to a place where they don’t have a Buffalo Wild Wings, or a Wing Stop, so I thought I would learn how to make my kids favourite honey BBQ Wings from Buffalo Wild Wings. Usually I don’t like to fry things, but today I put on my big girl knickers and dug out my fryer from storage, and oh my gosh, this ended up being one of the quickest, easiest and most delicious recipes I have ever made, that i’m kicking myself for not learning how to make these sooner. My kids thought I was the most awesome Mum in the WORLD tonight, but my husband cheekily rated them a 6/10 because he only eats the super spicy kind of wings, which I guess i’m going to have to figure out how to make next!Ingredients:

1 pound chicken wings
Oil for frying
{For the sauce} 
1 cup ketchup
1/3 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup honey
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Oil for frying

Preheat the oil to 375degF. To prepare the chicken: cut the joint that separates the wing from the drumstick then snip off the tip of the wing. Trim any excess fat, then pat dry with a paper towel.

In a saucepan over medium-high heat add all the ingredients for the BBQ sauce, stir, then reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes.

Fry the chicken wings for 10-15 mins, until crisp on the outside. Place on a paper-towel lined plate to drain off excess oil.

Add the honey BBQ sauce to a large mixing bowl. Toss the chicken wings in the bowl of sauce to coat, then plate with some celery and carrot sticks.
